PROFILE® Technical Format Specifications

The latest version of the Standard Product Data Exchange Format is now available for all PROFILE® Users. Version 4.0 is an "Import Ready" file format that makes it easy to import PROFILE® data into commercial software applications through their import facilities. Version 4.0 introduces a NEW multi-file, field delimited format, and supercedes the single-file, single field format that was characteristic of all previous versions of the Standard Product Data Exchange Format.

As of February 2003, all PROFILE® information will be distributed in version 4.0 of the Standard Product Data Exchange Format. This "Import Ready" format is easy to implement and PROFILE® users should experience an easy transition to this new file format. Subscribers to PROFILE® may request their data files in this new format by visiting the Members Area.

As of February 2003, all PROFILE® Manufacturers are asked to make plans to submit their product information in Version 4.0 format. The sunset date for version 3.01 is August 2003, at which time they should have in place a method to submit their product information in the 4.0 format.

You will be able to download the PROFILE® Standard Product Data Exchange Format document V4.0 in the following file types after you click "submit": Word 2000 (.doc), Rich Text Format (.RTF). To clear all fields, click on the "reset" button.
